Nido
Concept Nursery School (6 months to 3 years)
Nido is the first stage in the Montessori concept, originating from the italian word, "nido" means nest and security. We offer our young children a cosy, friendly and warm-hearted atmosphere in which they gain their first experiences away from home. Children experience stimulation in the sensory development through the Montessori philosophy and learn to build their first social contacts.
The programme:
The programm provides a smooth transmission to the kindergarten. Daily "circle activities" are offered in German and English to develop concentration, listening-, language- and musical skills. Each child will be individually introduced to the Montessori independent work, giving the child the opportunity to discover and experience new and unknown fields according to the stage of development.
The self-directed play is one of the most important activity throughout the day in terms of social skills development. During the self-directed play the child has the opportunity to share, develop patience and in helping and supporting other children.
Our daily outdoor activities develop children's motor skills and an understanding for our environment and nature.
Staff:
To build a trusting bond, the child will always be cared for the same teachers within his/her group. The group leader is responsible for the group activities in her group, e.g. she will organize excursions & trips, plan the weekly programme, observe children and write reports in terms of the half year talks with parents.
Once a year parents will be invited for a parent talk regarding progress and development of the child.
One head teacher takes overall responsibility for the staff and learning programme in the nursery school.
